My home is in Scotland. I have worked for a number of years as a professional counsellor with many hours of supervised counselling experience, training, and personal self development behind me. I am now semi retired and travel extensively in the UK and Europe in my Motorhome.

Qualifications

  • I completed 4 years of training in 1998 and hold a Diploma in Counselling.
  • An Advanced Certificate in Online Counselling was gained in 2005 after 2 further years of training.
  • I also hold a COSCA validated (Scottish Counselling Association) certificate in the supervision of fellow counsellors.
  • I am a Member of the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and follow their code of Ethics and Good Practice.

Counselling work

This consists of EAP (Employment Assistance Provider) counselling using both telephone and online communication mediums direct with employee’s and their families.

I have also worked personally with clients both privately and with locally funded Return To Work initiatives.

My Internet counselling mainly consists of email contracts. However; I also use services such as ‘Messenger’ or other secure internet meeting rooms.  Sometimes a mixture of communication mediums are used in the one counselling relationship.

Counselling Base

I work from a Cognitive and Behavioural (CB) ‘Person Centred’ counselling base.  Over the years I have developed my own integrative style incorporating influences and training from a range of models, practices and styles.

I regard counselling as a profession requiring me to be in continual and life long personal self development and training.

Counselling Model

The counselling Model I use enables a ‘safe enough’ space to develop between counsellor and client through use of skilled communication over whichever communication medium is being used.  Establishing this ‘safe enough’ space, or Counselling relationship, enables you, the client, to focus on and start to unravel your presenting issues.

Your Safety

Every new Counselling relationship is unique, precious and challenging.  Sometimes these challenges mean the ‘counselling relationship’, for whatever reason, cannot be established.  My one maxim in such a case is ... ‘to do no harm to another’.  My own experience, my own supervision, Membership of BACP and professional insurance are all in place to assist All Media Counselling to adhere to that maxim, and to ensure your safety.
